Lead Medical Officer part-time

Helping build lifelong careers as a lead medical doctor

As a part time lead medical doctor for the Capita Recruiting Partnering Project (RPP), you’ll be in charge of delivering efficient medical screenings, appeals and approvals at our Army Assessment Centre. Leading a team of dedicated medical officers, you’ll be committed to driving efficiency and ensuring every part of the process meets a high standard. Together you’ll ensure the right candidates for the Army pass assessment, keeping our recruitment efforts running smoothly and helping to build lifelong careers along the way. This is a fantastic opportunity for somebody with previous clinical leadership experience who’s looking to move away from frontline medicine, but still make the most of their skills. Even better, there’s no shift work and no nights, just a great work-life balance whilst helping to keep our country safer.

This is a part time role working Monday to Thursday 9am-5.30pm.

What you’ll be doing

  • conducting clinical work, including face-to-face medical examinations for Soldier and Officer candidates
  • line managing RPP medical doctors, including training, audit, documentation review and design, clinical governance, appraisal, revalidation support, process supervision and change
  • coaching clinical staff to meet productivity, quality and outcome measures
  • adhering to clinical policies, protocols, and electronic reporting of the screening solution
  • working with external medical, surgical and Army occupational medicine consultants where appropriate
  • maintaining GMC registration, license to practise, accreditation and skill mix

What we’re looking for

  • a fully GMC qualified medical practitioner with licence to practise
  • an empathetic leader with demonstrable managerial and delegation skills
  • IT literacy and experience with Microsoft programmes
  • an innovative thinker with good commercial awareness
  • the ability to work effectively and efficiently to tight deadlines
  • an effective communicator in person and on paper
